They also got to see what kids in the 1860s used to play games. I thought it was so funny to see how much fun the kids had with a hoop and a stick. Who needs video games?
After we had our fill of Civil War history we decided to head on over the Blake's Cider Mill for some cider and donuts. The best part about fall is being able to enjoy the day at a cider mill! Blake's has a great play area and petting farm there for the kids.
Kaelyn loved petting and feeding all of the farm animals.
And of course they had to climb the hay pyramid....
It was a wonderful Saturday spent with the family!
On Sunday Ian had his first swim meet of the season. It was an inner-squad meet which meant it was only Marlins competing. It was a great meet to remind all of the swimmers how the meets work and what it feels like to compete in a race. Ian swam in 4 events - 100 IM, 25 free, 25 fly and 25 breast. Ian improved on all of his best times from last year. One of the things that I challenged him with this swim season was to swim his 25 free in under 20 seconds. His best time last year was 21.79 seconds so I knew that sometime this year he would be under 20. However, I did not think that his very first meet he would meet the goal! Take a look at the video of his 25 free race...Ian is in the middle lane and is the swimmer that finishes in 2nd place.
As soon as he got out of the pool he asked the timer person what his time was....19.75 seconds! He was so proud of himself for meeting this goal! I guess I'm going to have to give him a tougher goal next time! Ian ended up with 1 first place ribbon and 3 2nd place ribbons. We were very proud of him!
That looks like a BLAST! LOVE the hoop spinning game, I've always thought that looked fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd, way to go Ian!!!
