Rookie of the Year

Last night we had our final event of the year for Ian's swim team. We all gathered at Mac & Ray's for the Macomb Marlin's Banquet. Since this was our first swim banquet we didn't know what to expect. Well, we learned a few things last night...like most people (adults and kids) dress up for the occasion. We were all in jeans and Ian had on track pants...Oops! The second thing that we learned was that it was very long. It started at 6:30pm and we "snuck" out at around 9pm and the coach was still talking. Next time we know to leave the girls at home.

So, the highlight of our evening was when the coach called all of the individual ages groups up to the front to hand them their year end certificate and talk a little about the kids. Lucky for us they started with the 8 & unders first. There were several boys missing but here is a picture of them standing up front. Let me tell you they were less then enthused to be standing up there....hehe.....

After, the coach handed out an award for the "Rookie of the Year" and I'm sure that you can guess that Ian won! We were so proud of him! All of his hard work throughout the year did not go unnoticed by his coaches. Ian was pretty proud of himself and it really got him excited about next season.

Way to go Ian!

  1. Yeah Ian! We are so happy for you! Nate is excited about next year too. Maybe some more of the Macomb kids will join the Marlins, that would be great!

  2. Way to go Ian! A natural athlete...we are proud of you. You'll have to teach Brayden a few things in the pool!
